„Infrastructures in Focus. Curating in a World of Multiple Crises“
Curatorial-artistically oriented symposium with performative interventions
From October 18–19, 2024, we invite you to be part of our symposium „Infrastructures in Focus. Curating in a World of Multiple Crises“. The 2-day curatorial-artistically oriented symposium with performative interventions is dedicated to the importance of infrastructures in art. These include all material and immaterial conditions that ensure the operation of (art) institutions and influence aesthetic perception and emotions. And they usually remain invisible until they eventually stop working due to wear and tear or crisis, or are newly created. With academic lectures, artistic workshops, and perspectives from curatorial practice, the symposium invites dialogue between disciplines.
We look forward to two days of exciting contributions, including our keynote speaker Sabeth Buchmann, workshops by deufert&plischke, Herbordt/Mohren, Yuri Yefanov and Natalia Mats, interventions by MFK Bochum, and panelist Defne Ayas, Anguezomo Mba Bikoro, Jörn Etzold, Tonica Hunter, Valeska Klug, Daniel Kötter, Sebastian Linz, Julia Nitschke, Ruth Schmidt, Nesrin Tanç, Ursula Timmer-Fontani, and more.
The event is a collaboration between the ULG Kuratieren in den szenischen Künsten, the Institute for Theatre Studies, RUB, and the Kunstmuseum Bochum. Funded by the Kunststiftung NRW.
A detailed program will follow. Please register at gwendolin.lehnerer@sbg.ac.at
